Fourth Annual Emerald City Open
November 11, 2013
Seattle, Washington

The University of Washington Mock Trial Program hosted its fourth annual Emerald City Open the weekend of November 9-10, 2013 in the beautiful William H. Gates Hall.  Congratulations to both University of Wisconsin teams (the other UW) for winning first and second in this year’s tournament!

This year, the University of Washington program also had a strong performance.  The UW Purple Team won Third Place with an impressive record of 6-1-1.  Gold Team ended the tournament with a Fourth Place trophy after earning a record of 6-2.  After an exceptional performance as a defense closer, Amy Hersh won an Outstanding Attorney award. In addition, after strong performances on the witness stand, Kyle Tong and AJ Lupenski walked away with Outstanding Witness Awards.

Running an invitational is a difficult task that requires everything from finding a location for the tournament months in advance to running the tab room during the rounds.  The Huskies would like to thank Alex Crown, the UW Tournament Coordinator and UW senior, for putting in so much time and effort to make sure this year’s tournament was successful.  The UW Program would also like to give a huge thanks to UW alumni Nick Crown and Taylor Larson for volunteering their time to make sure everything ran smoothly.  Finally, we would like to thank all of our volunteer judges as well as the entire UW Law School staff for allowing us to host our tournament in William H. Gates Hall for the fourth consecutive year.
